Gudja United beat Qrendi 2-0 and move 7 points clear from third placed St. Lucia as the latter lost to Mqabba 2-3.
As expected, Gudja showed their superiority with continuous ball possession throughout the entire game and a huge amount of scoring opportunities that had the potential to make the final score a bigger one.
Qrendi went back home with only one particular highlight on their books in which in their only scoring opportunity they found the back of the net but their effort was denied for an offside position.
Gudja took the lead in the 25th minute when Llewellyn Cremona who won the ball in the midfield was quick to pass on to Firas Aboulezz. The latter advanced a few metres before putting DHONATAN SANTOS DA HORA alone in front of Qrendi goalie and made it 1-0.
RAFAEL KOOH SOHNA doubled the lead only in the dying minutes of the match following another fine pass by Firas Aboulezz. As previously remarked, the score could have been much bigger but Rafael Kooh Sohna first and Firas Aboulezz later failed to tap in into an empty net.
Gudja are now sitting comfortably in the second place 4 points behind leaders Sirens and 7 points ahead of St. Lucia. Sirens will face Zebbug Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
