3 goals in the opening 30 minutes were enough for Gudja to secure a historic promotion to the Maltese Premier League.
The Blues commenced immediately on the attack and by the 5th minute Gudja had already hit the post whilst another opportunity was seen going to waste.
However, we didn't have to wait much longer to celebrate as on the 11th minute, Firas Aboulezz found DHONATAN SANTOS DA HORA alone in front of Naxxar goalie who placed it to the right side and put Gudja one up.
Gudja looked too sharp for Naxxar Lions and just a few minutes later, Emerson Vella was the first one to arrive on the ball from a corner situation, but his effort was stopped by hand by a Naxxar Lions player. Red Card for Naxxar and penalty kick for Gudja which was converted with a powerful shot by the usual JACKSON LIMA.
Just a few minutes later EMERSON VELLA once again found the back of the net following a corner situation. This time nobody was able to stop him and Gudja are now 3 goals up. Naxxar Lions grabbed one back in the dying minutes and reduced the gap to finish the first half 3-1.
In the second half, Gudja United failed to score the fourth goal on several occasions including another post hit by Dhonatan Santos Da Hora whilst Naxxar tried their luck with some fast breaks but the result didn't change.
3-1 is the final score and Gudja United FC is now mathematically in the Maltese Premier League for the upcoming season.
Following leaders Sirens' loss against Pembroke Athleta earlier in the afternoon, Gudja United are now sitting just 3 points behind them. Gudja United and Sirens will face each other this Saturday afternoon.
