Sirens become the only team to beat Gudja United twice this season and are now one point away from being crowned Champions of the Maltese First Division.

It was a very entertaining match that offered a high level of football between the two teams that gained promotion to the Maltese Premier League.

Gudja looked in good shape and controlled the play in the initial stages of the match but failed to create any serious opportunities other than a couple of set pieces. Sirens increased their momentum in the second part of the first half and went one up in the 37th minute with a fine header by Mandric.

In the second half, Gudja tried their utmost to bring one back but had to wait till the 79th minute when Adolphus Marshall's cross found Rafa Kooh Sohna who headed into the net and made it 1-1. Gudja continued to press the Sirens defence and to create opportunities but failed to convert into the net.

In the 88th minute, in a fast counter attack, Sirens found the back of the net with Russell Fenech. Sirens 2, Gudja 1. Sirens are now only one point away from being crowned Maltese First Division Champions
