Gudja United squad for season 2019-2020
The unity amongst all components of the Team is the biggest asset this Club possesses and this is why I expressed the will to present the whole squad at once instead of platforming each and every individual on his own.Dr. Duncan Borg Myatt - Gudja United President
The presentation started with the confirmation of Coach Josef Mansueto and Assistant Coach Thane Micallef, whilst Matthew Psaila and Michael Church are joining the technical staff as Physical Trainer and Goalkeepers' Coach respectively.
A total of six players were reconfirmed by the Club for another season. Club Captain Jonathan Bondin, Goalkeepers Matthew Xerxen, Jonathan Debono and Jurgen Farrugia have extended their contract with the Club for another year, whilst Llewelyn Cremona and Miguel Attard re-joined on a season long loan.
7 new Maltese players have been recruited by the Club. Of these Zack Cassar, Aidan Friggieri and Timmy Aquilina form part of the Malta U/21 squad. The other 4 new players are James Brincat who joined on loan from Birkirkara, Justin Grioli, Hubert Vella and Dylan Grima.
Dr. Duncan Borg Myatt continued with the presentation by presenting the new foreigners who joined the Club in recent weeks.
Trinidad and Tobago Striker Rundell Winchester enjoys 4 International caps with his country. The others are Juan Bolanos a former Colombia U/20 Central Defender, Allan Miranda from Costa Rica who also counts a few international caps with his country, Anderson De Barros who enjoyed the past seasons in Malta's premier League with Balzan Youths and Tarxien Rainbow, Gabriel Mensah a Ghanaian midfielder who enjoyed the past year with Pieta Hotspurs also in the Maltese Premier League. Alexandre Santana Barroso and Anderson Meyar De Melo who are both from Brazil are playing in Malta for the first time.
Dr. Borg Myatt ended the presentation by saying that this will be the squad that will represent the name of Gudja in the Maltese Premier League whilst also hinting that it is still possible that one more name can be added on to this list.
When questioned by the media present whether he believes there is the need of a final add on, Dr. Borg Myatt added that all the departments are now closed with the only exception being that another Striker could be joining the team in the near future.
Following the Club President's Speech, Coach Josef Mansueto addressed the present media. In a few words Mr. Mansueto thanked the committee members and supporters for their continuous support during the past season, especially in the initial part when from 6 matches the team had collected 5 draws and only 1 win. He also explained that his first time managing a first division side was a new challenging experience for him which helped him grow up.
Club President Dr. Duncan Borg Myatt closed off the press conference thanking the Talbot & Bons - Boutique Bed & Breakfast Hotel Management for their support & collaboration.
