GUDJA DEFEATED BY VALLETTA

0 - 3
Full Time

Valletta registered a first league win in over a month and a half as they defeated Gudja United 3-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

The Citizens therefore move two points ahead of Mosta and three ahead of Gzira United but the Maroons have a game in hand. Gudja, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table with Sirens.

Gudja had some new faces that they acquired at the beginning of the year, where Stephen Owusu started from the beginning, then the former Swieqi United Ibrahim Salis, Eernesto Gentile and Rodrigue Nanitelamio.

Valletta had a perfect start, taking the lead after just three minutes when a Victor Luiz cross from the left was deflected by Ricardo Mendes past goalkeeper Justin Spiteri for an own goal.

Federico Falcone hit the upright for Valletta a few minutes later but he managed to double the score two minutes from the end of the first half, heading the ball home off a cross by Shaun Dimech.

Seven minutes from time, the Citizens scored the third goal courtesy of substitute Diego Cardoso whose conclusion beat the Gudja goalkeeper.
